Virginia Appellate Courts Electronic System (VACES)
Effective January 1, 2016, the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals of Virginia began accepting digital records from all tribunals. The records must comply with the Digital Appellate Record Standards promulgated by the appellate courts.

The Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia permit the filing of electronic pleadings in all cases. The appellate courts also permit the filing of electronic records in all cases. The pleadings and records are filed by uploading these documents into VACES, pursuant to the Rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia and the below guidelines.

Registration is required to file pleadings electronically with the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

Digital appellate records may be submitted electronically by custodians of such records. Registration is required to submit appellate records electronically.

When filing electronic pleadings and records in the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia, users will be prompted to accept the current Terms and Conditions of use prior to gaining access to VACES.
